Summer holiday style essentials
It’s not just women who plan, plan, and plan for their summer holidays. Guys also need to organize what they need to take albeit probably not as much as the ladies. So before you set off to your party holiday in Ibiza or exciting city break in Europe check out our summer holiday style essentials:
If you’re going somewhere hot you will need a good choice of shorts, a must this summer is smart chino shorts, and they are perfect for day to night looks allowing you to get into the smartest of establishments without going back to change. Check out Burtons for the latest smart shorts, their designs are right on trend for this summer with bright colours and quirky coloured rolled hems.
For lazing around by a pool boards shorts are the ticket, or keep on top of the summer trends by opting for a stylish pair of printed shorts. Denim shorts are still hugely popular however they aren’t always as comfortable as chino’s but are still a good option to include if you have space.
For many summer destinations trousers won’t be your first choice, however some bars and restaurants won’t allow you in wearing shorts, so it’s always advisable to make sure you have a pair of chino trousers on hand. For a pair to work with any outfit day or night opt for neutral colours such as beige, navy or for a pop of colour you can’t go wrong with mustard.
Style essentials don’t include football shirts of any type (sorry), instead make sure you take a selection of styles from round and v neck t-shirts to polo shirts, vest tops and smart shirts. This summer stripes and floral pattern are in, but you can forget about the garish floral styles of past, you want muted tones and pretty patterns to make a statement. ASOS have plenty of styles to choose from if you want a selection for your summer including some fab designer brands.
For cooler evenings we recommend you pack a lightweight blazer and denim jacket. A blazer will smarten up an outfit so good to have in your case, team it up with a shirt and smart chino shorts for a smart evening look. Denim jackets also work well with chino’s, and you can always add smart shorts if you want an everyday holiday look for when you are off sightseeing.
Keeping it simple, you should only need 3 pairs of shoes to see you through your holiday. Simple flip flops for by the pool and relaxing by the bar, comfy plimsolls for walking, sightseeing or travelling in and a pair of loafers/deck shoes for when you need something a bit more formal/smart when you go out on an evening. If you want shoes to go with your smarter evening wear, opt for neutral colours from Clarks or Tods.
A burnt forehead is not a good look, so keep you scalp sun burn free by wearing a stylish hat; either a fedora or trilby will do the job and will help to pull together your holiday look. Choose a hat made from either light canvas or straw to keep you cool in the hot sun.
Don’t forget sunglasses either, popular styles include the wayfarer from Ray-Ban who have a wide selection of colours to choose from so you can always find something to work with all your outfits. For when you are out and about a messenger back or rucksack is an essential piece of equipment, they not only look stylish but also keep your valuables safe and allow you to carry supplies with you on long day out in the sun.
