Five Cool Tips For Choosing The Right Bedding For You
The bedroom is, for many of us, the place to go to relax, unwind and, of course, to sleep. It is where we spend a third of our lives, so choosing calming ddcor and quality, comfortable bedding is key to a great night’s sleep. Here are five tips for making the right bedding choice.
1.Invest in a Mattress Protector
Adding an additional layer between the mattress and the sheets will help to extend the life of both. A cotton mattress protector will allow moisture to evaporate, keeping the body cool and comfortable. It will also prevent the mattress from becoming stained. For an added layer of padding, a combined mattress topper and protector is perfect. These can be topped with a memory foam, polyester wadding or even feather layer, which will extend the life of the mattress while providing extra comfort.2. Choose a good quality fabric
Whether your preference is for cotton, silk or polyester cotton blends, choosing the best quality you can afford will make sure that you have a comfortable and luxurious place to relax and to sleep. The higher the thread count, the better the quality of the sheets. Egyptian cotton is also of superior quality and has a softer feel. If you are working to a budget, it is possible to purchase cheap bedding that is of reasonable quality. Good quality fabrics are dropping in price all the time.3. Pick Out A Colour Scheme
Calming colours are the ideal choice for the bedroom, but if you prefer a more dramatic look, then a stronger colour palette of reds or purples will add glamour, but they can be more stimulating, so use them with care. Picking out a multi shade bedding design will allow you to change the ddcor colour scheme if you choose to without having to invest in a whole new range of bedding. It is important to look for colour-fast bedding, as this will help to prevent fading both in the laundering and from direct sunlight.4.Getting the right pillow
One of the most important factors in getting a great night’s sleep is the choice of pillow. An uncomfortable pillow will cause disturbed sleep and can create neck and back pain and headaches. A firmer pillow will offer support to the neck and shoulders, especially if you sleep on your side or back. Memory foam pillows are great for those who have back and neck pain. If you prefer a softer pillow, then feather, down or polyester fibre fillings are an excellent choice. Pillows filled with a polyester fibre that rebounds, keeping its shape and fullness, will give the bed a plush look and feel, as well as lasting a long time.5.Choose easy care bedding
Cotton and lined fabrics are easy to wash and can be tumble dried on a low setting, but can be harder to iron. There are now cotton blend fabrics such as poly cotton percale that don’t crease quite so much in the wash and are easy to iron. Many retailers also offer a range of non-iron bedding for even easier care.
